Last updated: September 20, 2026

1. Introduction

Band Library & Sight Reading Tools, operated by Digital Course Solutions, provides digital tools designed to help Band and Orchestra teachers manage classroom activities, repertoire, student assignments, music-learning materials, and sight-reading resources.

This Privacy Policy explains how information may be accessed, used, stored, protected, and deleted when teachers and students use our applications.

2. Information We Collect and Access

Depending on how the applications are used, information may include:

Band Library & Sight Reading Tools may access Google Drive and Google Sheets data when authorized by the teacher through Google's OAuth authorization process. This access is used to create, organize, read, modify, and manage the Google Drive folders, files, and Google Sheets resources required for the application's classroom and music library functionality.

3. How We Use Google User Data

Google user data is used only to provide and improve the user-facing functionality of Band Library & Sight Reading Tools.

This includes creating and managing teacher-specific application resources, organizing music repertoire, managing classroom and student information, assigning music, providing student access to assigned materials, and saving student work such as annotations and drawings.

We do not use Google user data for advertising, targeted advertising, personalized advertising, or unrelated purposes.

Google user data is not used to develop, improve, or train non-personalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.

4. Google Services and Authorization

Band Library & Sight Reading Tools is built using Google Apps Script and uses Google services such as Google Drive and Google Sheets to provide application functionality.

Access to Google services is granted only after the teacher authorizes the requested permissions through Google's OAuth consent process. The application does not receive or store the teacher's Google Account password.

Teachers may review and manage the application's access to their Google Account through their Google Account settings.

5. Data Protection and Security

We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect Google user data and other information used by Band Library & Sight Reading Tools against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

The application uses Google's authentication and authorization mechanisms to control access to Google services. Access to Google Drive and Google Sheets is limited to the permissions authorized by the teacher through Google's OAuth consent process.

Data transmitted between the application and Google services is protected using secure HTTPS/TLS connections.

Teacher classroom data and application resources are stored using Google Drive and Google Sheets resources associated with the teacher's Google Account. Google security controls and protections therefore also apply to data stored within those Google services.

We maintain security procedures designed to protect the confidentiality and integrity of Google user data and other information processed by the application.

We do not sell Google user data or provide Google user data to data brokers. We do not use Google user data for advertising or for purposes unrelated to providing the application's user-facing functionality.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. However, we take reasonable steps appropriate to the nature of the information and the application's functionality to protect the data we process.

6. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent personal information or Google user data to third parties.

Google user data is not transferred or disclosed to third parties except when necessary to provide or improve an appropriate user-facing feature of the application, with the user's consent, or when required by law.

Information may be accessible to the teacher using the application and to authorized users as necessary for the educational functions of the applications.

Google user data obtained through Google APIs is handled in accordance with Google's API Services User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements.

7. Student Information

Band Library & Sight Reading Tools is intended to be used by teachers and educational professionals. Teachers are responsible for entering and managing student information appropriately and for complying with applicable school, district, and legal requirements regarding student data.

Student information is used to provide classroom features such as class management, student access, music assignments, and saving student work.

We do not use student information for advertising or targeted advertising.

8. Data Retention

Information may be retained for as long as necessary to provide the application's classroom, music library, and student-facing functionality, or as determined by the teacher or organization managing the information.

Data stored in the teacher's Google Drive or Google Sheets remains under the teacher's control and is subject to the teacher's Google Account settings and controls.

Band Library & Sight Reading Tools does not retain a separate external copy of teacher Google Drive or Google Sheets content solely for unrelated purposes.

9. Data Deletion

Teachers can delete application-created files, folders, spreadsheets, music resources, and other application data through the application's available features or directly through Google Drive or Google Sheets, where applicable.

When information is no longer required to provide the application's functionality, it may be deleted or removed when reasonably practicable, subject to applicable legal, operational, or account requirements.

Teachers may also revoke the application's Google Account permissions through their Google Account settings. Revoking authorization prevents the application from continuing to access Google services through the previously granted permissions.

10. Children's Privacy

The applications may be used by teachers in educational environments where students are minors. The applications are designed to support teacher-managed educational use.

Teachers and schools are responsible for ensuring that their use of the applications complies with applicable requirements concerning children's and student information.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the date shown at the beginning of this policy.

If we make material changes to how Google user data is accessed, used, stored, or shared, we will update this Privacy Policy before implementing those changes where required.
